Once you have researched and built a University you should begin to train researchers in a SINGLE field only. That way it will mean that your researches will be completed faster.
Click the university and click "Train New Researcher". Once he is trained click him then you will be presented with the below box...select ONE field to train him in and the click train researcher.
Now he is training you can see the type of training and the time left. Now click on another researcher.
The same box will appear only the "Train Researcher" button will have been replaced with a "Queue" button...You should queue up as many researcher training as you can to give you the best possible researchers to start with.
